Cinema Nosso

Cinema Nosso is a socio-cultural non-profit film school operating in the heart of Rio de Janerio, Brazil. It was first created informally in 2000 - then under the name Nós do Cinema - from the casting process for the film "City of God" directed by Fernando Meirelles and Katia Lund. At that time it was a way for the young people who were actors in the successful feature film to rise up and create themselves as leaders in their community. The goal was to produce films with relevant themes to their own social-cultural lives and create a pathway into the niche market of cinema.

Cinema Nosso is an organization that has more than fifteen years experience in audiovisual education; 3,500 students in the capital and around greater Rio area; 98 different course types have been held; 157 workshops; more than 159 short films produced; two feature films; hundreds of public screenings in the private theater.

Cinema Nosso invests in educational activities which allows for youth who do not have regular access to opportunities, to have and create a cinematic experience of their own.
